Verbum Language Connection offers four courses:

The Community Interpreter® International (TCII) is the most widely taught entry-level program in the world for medical and community interpreters. Highly interactive and skills-based, while incorporating the latest advances in the field, it is designed to be delivered as a 40 hour online course designed for bilingual people interested in starting an interpreting career. The TCII course is geared for educational, social services and general community interpreting. This course meets the national standards for medical and community interpreters.

The Medical Interpreter Online (TMIO) is a 40 hour course that offers a robust introduction to medical interpreting. It prepares you to enter the field as a professional interpreter in healthcare and is offered to bilingual healthcare professionals who will have a dual role when utilizing their interpretation skills while carrying on their professional duties in healthcare. TMIO meets the training requirement to apply for national medical interpreter certification with the Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters (CCHI) and the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters (NBCMI).

Medical Terminology for Interpreters is an 8-hour class that will strengthen healthcare interpreters’ bilingual medical vocabulary. This is an interactive course that expands the medical interpreters’ knowledge of body systems, procedures and the terminology associated with them. This training helps interpreters understand medical terminology and develop strategies to interpret it correctly.

Introduction to Language Access is a 2 hour workshop for providers working with the Limited English Proficient communities when delivering vital services in healthcare, government, education and social services. In this workshop participants learn basic information on how to work with language professionals who are interpreters and translators.
